Indeed,
to qualify this film may be between the devil and the deep blue sea (which
expression, far nicer than ours). You have to take your hat off to Davies in
many aspects of his film. It's a (not intimate) intimate film with lighting
that seems made candles Kubrick Barry Lyndon, with a score that relies only
on the music of violins. Interpretations immense. With a beautiful and touching
Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston and that proves to be a talented actor and great
flexibility to choose and interpret their roles.
The
film adapts the play, written in the 50s, by Terence Rattigan English
playwright. The different types of love, ongoing dissatisfaction with life, the
impossible choices ... issues are present on site.
